I posted about my gorgeous girl and namesake to my business the other day. It was from our scouting session for these images. I love photographing this beautiful face. I will cherish this trip for a lifetime and can’t wait to create an album of all these images. Literally 100s. But here were a few favorites. (Mila can’t wait to do a similar session. Oddly, I’ll have to bribe Owen!)

I love spending time with her. Her energy for living fully is so contagious. She’s hilarious and can make me laugh through our lost bags, rainy weather and big big humidity hair. I love watching her grow up, follow her heart, and fall deeper in love with God. I didn’t realize mothering her would get so fun. Challenging at times… she is a teen and clipping her heart strings to us, and that’s hard. But the rest… the rest is what I cling to for today.

Do you believe your baby’s smiles are real or just gas? Maybe it’s gas. Personally I like to believe it’s real, dreaming of all the days spent in mamas tummy. Those were good days! But what if… it’s both? Maybe that relief from your babes little tummy is something to smile about?! 🤷‍♀️ Dads during the session always claim it’s just gas while moms seem more likely to think it’s good dreams!

Live in the moment … just one minute to breathe it all in. Our worlds are so fast. The day ends and you wonder what you did beyond serving the immediate needs. This is true when you’re at home with a baby, but also true when your kids are half grown and just a few years from leaving home. I want to have a moment each day, a minute, 5 maybe, where I just marvel at it all.

I photographed this session a couple years ago when I was just conceiving the idea of our mon coeur maternity sessions. So many beautiful moments photographed between now and then. So many shared tears of joy, anxiety about becoming a mom, plans to unfold. I love sharing all of this with you.⁠

My life has been divided into two frames...⁠
One is before motherhood. It was a little wild, highly focused, leisurely, turned almost entirely inward.⁠
The second frame is after motherhood. It's a little wild, highly focused, working on the leisurely, turned entirely outward.⁠
While some parts of life blur together, nothing delineates life more than having your first child.⁠

Has anyone else ever studied the difference between the masculine and the feminine? I highly suggest it. The feminine energy is just sooo inspiring. (Don't forget: we ALL have unequal measures of both masculine and feminine energy....)⁠

While the masculine is the focused, goal oriented and "get shit done" side of your energy (highly useful)...⁠
⁠
the feminine energy is receptive, relational, flowing, creative and the source of all creation. When we put forward a project, it's the feminine energy in us that will nurture it into being. ⁠
